Board Meeting Minutes

REGULAR SESSION

Monday, September 09, 2024

The Village Board of the Village of Camargo met in Regular Session on Monday, September 09, 2024 at the Camargo Village Hall.  The meeting was called to order by President Bart Dann at 6:06 pm.  Roll call found the following trustees present: Nancy George, Jim Hardway, Wade Lorenz (at 6:13), and Gary Gilpin.  Treasurer Shirley Badman and Village Superintendent Kyle Raymer were both present as well.

Public Comment:  N/A

Consent Agenda:  Jim Hardway made a motion to approve the consent agenda.  Nancy George seconded the motion, and the motion passed unanimously.

New Business:

  1. Merry-Go-Round: The bearing in the merry-go-round has gone out, and we are waiting to see if Paul’s can fix it.  There is a meeting scheduled for next week.  Regardless, the Village will need a second merry-go-round for the new park (to be installed in Hancock Subdivision).  President Dann suggested that we replace this one with a new one, and when this one gets fixed we place it at the new park.  Nancy George made a motion to order a new merry-go-round for the price of $3021 plus $419 in shipping to be paid for out of the Community Building Fund.  Gary Gilpin seconded the motion, and the motion passed unanimously.

Old Business:

  1. Michael and Valerie Griffin:  All information regarding their claim has been received and given to the insurance company for review.
  2. Property Purchase / Condemning Updates:  The homeowner that resides at the end of the street is still looking for a property to purchase.  There are letter going to the remaining property owners for the next board meeting.
  3. Part-Time Police Officer Update:  Villa Grove’s attorney and Camargo’s attorney are working on an agreement.

Village Superintendent’s Report: Village Superintendent Kyle Raymer reported the following:

  • The EPA came and completed their annual inspection.  Upon their requirements, we MUST purchase four (4) flexible ultra-spill decks with bladders.  The total cost will be $1191.80 plus shipping.  Because this is a mandate from the EPA, no vote is required.  There are new things we have to do.
    • Vent to the outside where we store the chlorine.
    • Change the sample sites to the Community Building and the Village Hall.
    • Daily samples will be needed instead of weekly samples.

  • Hydraulic cylinders went out on the backhoe
  • Aaron White had his water turned on.  There used to be a leak, and it was fixed on Tuesday.
  • DBP and Lead and Copper Samples passed.  1 sample came back positive for lead.  1 sample was high for copper.
  • Water leak last night at Parsley’s – on our side of the meter.

.

Village President’s Report:  Village President Bart Dann reported the following:

  • Bart met with the State Voting Inspector.  He was in Camargo to check out our community building for ADA compliance.  Our wheelchair ramp is way out of compliance.  They do grants, and he advised us to hold off on fixing it.  He will see what kind of money he can get us prior to us fixing it.
  • Bart met with Chief Deputy Weinstock of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office regarding the criminal damage to governmental property and theft of governmental property that occurred on George Street.  Deputy Weinstock called Mr. Bailey regarding this incident.  He advised Mr. Bailey that this needs to be paid at the Sheriff’s Office (where they will write him a receipt) no later than Monday, September 16, 2024.  If he has not paid by 8am that morning on the 16th, charges will be pressed, and these are felony charges.

With no further business to come before the Board, Village President Bart Dann called for adjournment at 7:00 pm.
