Board Meeting Minutes

REGULAR SESSION

Monday, January 08, 2024

The Village Board of the Village of Camargo met in Regular Session on Monday, January 08, 2024 at the Camargo Community Building.  The meeting was called to order by President Bart Dann at 6pm.  Roll call found the following trustees present: Nancy George, Jim Lansford, Jim Hardway, Jeane Breiland and Gary Gilpin.  Water Superintendent Kyle Raymer and Treasurer Shirley Badman were also in attendance.

Public Comment:

Brian Moody, Tuscola Chamber and Economic Development:  Mr. Moody was present to explain what the new Tuscola Chamber and Economic Development is and will be offered to the communities in Douglas County.  Some things they are looking forward to:

  1. Stakeholders in the communities
  2. Hearing voices from their communities
  3. What items can they help with that fit in our community

Some of their most recent goals have been:

  • Retention of existing businesses
  • Bringing in new businesses
  • Business succession

Things for our Board to consider would be: What do we want from Tuscola Chamber & Economic Development?  We need to come up with a wish list.  This would consist of anything that contributes to the economy.  Keep in mind they will be looking for memberships as well.

Consent Agenda:  Nancy George made a motion to accept the consent agenda.  Gary Gilpin seconded the motion, and the motion passed.

New Business:

Goals and Projects for 2024:  We will revisit this at the next meeting.  Mostly we are excited to see what Mr. Moody can do for our community.

Discussion of Peace Meal Prices:  We are currently paying $300 per month for Peace Meal.  There is only 3 people using this service at this time.  President Dann asked Clerk Salisa Dann if she would send an email to Villa Grove asking for the entire Peace Meal bill that is received from Sarah Bush.  We believe that we are not being billed correctly.  We also need to know how often these three people are eating (how many meals is this $300 providing – when they are still paying for their own meals.)

Discussion of New Rental Agreement:  Clerk Dann provided the Board with a rough draft of a new rental agreement.  She asked if everyone would please read it over and make notes on it.  We can revisit next meeting and discuss in further detail anything that needs to be altered.

Old Business:  Reminder of Board Party (February 3)

Village Superintendent and Village Water Superintendent Report provided by Water Superintendent Kyle Raymer:

  • Year end paperwork completed for EPA
  • Plows ready for snow
  • Salted
  • Worked on valve at Griffins
    • Dug up the pipes
    • It is not possible to work on currently (weather)
    • The pipe is made up of both PVC and cast iron.
    • The pipe was reburied, and we will dig it back up in the spring.
  • Laying flooring at the Village Hall next week – weather permitting

Village President’s Report provided by Village President Bart Dann:

  • Kyle located and provided a copy of the job description from Rick Kielhorn.  There are some things that need to be changed:  For example, we no longer maintain recycling bins.
  • The pavilion will go up most likely in February – again weather permitting.

With no further business to come before the Board, Village President Bart Dann called for adjournment at 6:57 pm.
