VILLAGE OF CAMARGO
REGULAR BOARD MEETING
Monday, July 13, 2026
6:00 PM
The Village Board of the Village of Camargo met in Regular Session on Monday, July 13, 2026 at the Camargo Village Hall. The meeting was called to order at 6:01 PM, and roll call found the following trustees present: Jim Lansford, Josh Drake, Jim Hardway, Wade Lorenz, and Gary Gilpin. Water Superintendent Kyle Raymer was also present.
Public Comment:
Chip and Barb Reifsteck, Vine Street: Chip and Barb are in the process of removing their trailer on Vine Street. They are looking to replace it with a tiny home – approximately 18’ x 36’. This will be Owen Builders, and they have USDA approval, and the home will be on a foundation. They will also be adding a large deck on the back side approximately 8’ x 15’. (See Tim Wegeng’s report below.)
Michael Burton, Mill Street: The Burton family is looking into purchasing a home on North White Oak. They would like to add farm animals. However, the property is currently zoned as residential, and they need it to be zoned as Agricultural. The Board will look into this and revisit the issue in August.
Approval of Consent Agenda: Josh Drake made a motion to approve the consent agenda and pay bills. Jim Hardway seconded the motion, and the motion passed.
New Business:
Approval of Appropriations: Jim Hardway made a motion to approve the appropriations as they were presented by Treasurer Shirley Badman. Wade Lorenz seconded the motion, and the motion passed.
Discussion of Rezoning Property at 416 N White Oak: Tabled – this will be discussed at the August meeting.
Discussion of Building Permit for Property at 102 N Vine: Board okayed the permit that Tim Wegeng presented to the Board for a tiny house and approved them moving forward.
Discussion of Camper Violation on John Street: The Board advised that the correspondence should be mailed certified with a receipt.
Outdoor Modular Restroom for Park: Jim Lansford would like to see a more permanent restroom at the park instead of a porta-potty. The Board stated they would keep it in mind for the future.
Discussion and Possible Approval of USDA Grant Submission: Clerk Salisa Dann was given some information regarding a USDA grant for municipality parks. This is a matching grant, and Treasurer Badman stated she would help write it. Jim Lansford is also helping to gather information. Wade Lorenz made a motion to move forward with the submission for the grant. Josh Drake seconded the motion, and the motion passed.
Water Superintendent’s Report: Kyle Raymer reported the following:
- Weekly samples are starting to come back (all samples are being tested directly by the EPA)
- May 20: 64.7 at the big meter
- May 27: 98.4 (the limit is 80)
- June 3: 70.9
- June 10: 64
- June 16: 72
- Permitting is finally done for the mixer
- Cody hauled the riprap
- Cody also hauled 30 ton CA6 (base for the pavilion – Eagle Scout Project)
- Trees down on River Rd
- Mowing
- Meeting in Dietrich rescheduled for this Thursday
- Vine Street Project has begun
- Pricing on boring tool $6640 – with a 1 year warranty (Sunbelt rents one for $640 / week)
- Kyle personally purchased an excavator. He is going to use it on the Vine St project.
- Lead & Copper samples coming soon
- DBPs coming soon
- Failed another sample – another notification must go out
- Fire wood and compost is being used
- Sink hole on elevator road – private property
- Jim Crane said everything is ready and good to go for oil and chip
Building Superintendent Report: Tim Wegeng reported the following:
- Permit issued for Jim Hardway – pole barn
- Community Building doors – work to be done the week of July 20th. It looks as though the emergency bars are going to cost $2000
- Taylor Haines Park tresses to go up asap (Scout project). Up to $2300 on that project.
- Stage work to be completed by Arc Fellowship – it will be stained on July 25-26
Village President’s Report: Bart Dann reported the following:
- Concessions went in the hole this year. We had several rained out games. Next year, the travel ball team is going to use our field as their home field. This will definitely give our park more use.
- Stage Stain Reminder: See Tim’s report (9-10am start time), Wayne already removed all the license plates
- Condemnation Update: Still waiting to hear back from the attorney
- Garrett (grain elevator): Bart sent him pictures of the weeds and junk metal on the property. The metal is really close to the railroad tracks. He is definitely on Village easement. Bart also sent him a photo of the plat map along with his equipment being on village property.
- Bart and Salisa are still receiving complaints regarding the late hour mowing that occurs on White Oak. The subject is still mowing between the hours of 9-9:30. Bart called the residents and asked them to stop.
- Tree ordinances update:
- DH: tree removed
- TH: on hold – house for sale on Zillow
- PD: not removing the tree / still has 30 days and heard there might be a deal with Beez Trees.
With no further business coming before the Board, President Dann called for adjournment at 7:34 PM
